About Rise
Rise University Preparatory is an independent Christian high school, making accessible an academically rigorous education in a college-bound environment to the Bayview/Hunters Point community and beyond. At Rise, we teach whole students, equipping them with the tools they need to reason, create, serve, and lead. 80% of our seats are reserved for first to college, low-income, or Bayview resident scholars with the goal of 100% of our scholars receiving admission into 4-year universities.
Inspiring young scholars to reason, create, serve, and lead
Rise is Challenging
Our goal is that 100% of Rise Prep scholars gain admission to 4-year universities. To that end, our superb academic program engages whole students, equipping them with the tools they need to reason, create, serve, and lead. What’s more, a low student-to-faculty ratio ensures every student is individually known, challenged, and encouraged by exceptional teachers and tutors who are committed to preparing our scholars for higher education.
Rise is Effective
When students trust faculty and know that they are supported, they have a stable foundation from which to grow and learn even when expectations are high. And the results of our model are clear.

Rise is Rooted
Rise Prep demographically reflects the neighborhood in which it resides, and provides a nurturing environment for students often underrepresented in other school settings. Rise is a school in and for the Bayview, drawing on neighborhood business leaders, community organizers, and pastors as guest speakers who encourage our scholars. What’s more, over half of our staff reside in the neighborhood.

Rise is Accessible
Rise Prep tuition is geared to be affordable to families of all income levels and first-to-college scholars. We are committed to educational equity, justice and reconciliation. Therefore, 80% of our seats are reserved for Bayview scholars, low-income, or first generation college-bound students.
Tuition at a typical San Francisco private school is $20,000 to $40,000 or more per year. Thanks to the generous donations from our community of supporters, tuition at Rise Prep is $2,200 per year so families can apply without the worry of whether it is within financial reach.
Rise is Faith-Centered
Ultimately it is hope in our big, loving God that fuels everything we do and focuses us to where we are headed. His binding love compels us to reflect that love in our present time and place as His kingdom breaks in upon our sidewalks. Our vision is rooted in a Biblical sense of Jubilee, which is the undoing of gross inequities and reclaiming God’s good and bountiful apportionment to each community to flourish.
